What’s up everybody,

Winter/Spring 2010 is officially upon us and we are excited about all God has planned for The Vine! Allow me to share my heart with you all for a moment…

For those of you who don’t know, my wife Danielle and I just welcomed our first born son into the world December 8 of last year. We are so thrilled about all that is in store for us and as I’ve reflected on all this will mean, I’ve come across a verse of Scripture. Proverbs 3: 5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight”.

There is something for all of us here. As I begin this new path as a father, my trust could be put in anything…in books, in advice, in parenting seminars. All of these things are good, but they are not where my heart should have its foundation. My trust must first and foremost lie with Christ as l allow Him domain over my heart…and over my questions…and over my fears.

So, what is “big” for you this semester? New classes? New relationships? Broken relationships? Uncertainty about the future? Whatever it is, God wants your full trust that He will take care of it. You will always have His love, but you will have to offer Him your trust. As you reflect on this and on the days that lie ahead, remember that “your own understanding” is not your first plan of attack. Put your trust in the Lord…you may find that your “paths” have never been smoother.

Please know that all of you are in my prayers. If you need anything: a break from the books, a ride to the grocery store, or even just an ear to listen, give me a buzz, email. or FB. Office # is 573.442.1164, cell is 816.223.0394.

In Him,
Preston
