Who We Are
We worship and serve One God in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully human and fully divine. His life, death, and resurrection saves us from sin and death.
We believe that God saves us from sin and death by grace alone, and not because of any good deeds we do. We receive God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the final authority for what we should believe and how we should live.
Our congregations are led by ordained ministers and lay elders. Elders serve on the congregation's governing board, the Session. We strive to be good stewards of God's material gifts by living generously. We seek justice for all, peace between nations, and the transformation of society.
First Presbyterian is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest Presbyterian denomination in the country. We believe that God calls women and men to all ministries in the church, including ordained ministry.
