Meet Our Staff
Marvin joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church in July, 2016. He’s a graduate of N.C. State University and Columbia Theological Seminary, and holds a Ph.D. in the History of Christianity from Union Presbyterian Seminary. Marvin likes to help people make connections with God and each other through preaching, teaching, and ministries of mercy and justice. His favorite Bible verse is John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Marvin is a married father of two, a slow runner, a somewhat ineffective gardener, and a long-suffering fan of the N.C. State Wolfpack. The Lindsays are also Carolina Panthers fans, but they’ve been happy to adopt the Chiefs as their favorite AFC team.
Director of Campus Ministries & Blended Worship Leader
Preston Turley is the Director of UKIRK Ministries Columbia, MO, the campus ministry of First Presbyterian Church as well as Director of The Offering, our contemporary worship gathering. Preston has a Bachelor's degree in Youth and Family Ministry from Mid-America Nazarene University and loves working as a part of the First Presbyterian Church staff. Building relationships with college students and involving them in real dialogue and education about their faith, as well as leading the people of God in worship are great passions of his and he cherishes the opportunity to serve in these areas of ministry.
Preston was born and raised in Kansas City and has lived in Columbia, MO since 2009. He is blessed to be walking through life with his beautiful wife, Danielle, and their two sons Grayson and Brantley, and their not-so-bright, but very sweet dog, Baxter. The family enjoys being super silly, working in the garden, eating BBQ and screaming their heads off for the Mizzou Tigers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Royals! He also enjoys cooking, songwriting, and performing in his band, the Preston Turley Band.
It is Preston's prayer that he can lead as a servant, remembering the heart and character Jesus found in Matthew 20:20... "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
