Well known for his engaging lectures, Larry Brown is a retired MU Assistant Professor Emeritus of Human Geography and an ordained minister in the Christian  Church (Disciples of Christ). He also earned advanced degrees in Geography and sociology.

This lecture will consider the rise of white christian nationalism and the contemporary difficulty being a part of the "historic mainline" tradition of Protestant Christianity in the USA.

The lecture will emphasize:

• strategies for maintaining

• healthy Christianity in the current political atmosphere

• theological and social importance of the values promoted by the teachings of Jesus for modern life.

Speaker Notes: Some time will be spent on the authoritarian aspects of white christian nationalism and the promotion of such in contemporary politics.
Not capitalizing christian when referring to christian nationalism reflects my bias regarding what is genuine Christianity.
